Abstract

The prophage content was shaped by the bacterial lineage, ecological niche, and temporal dynamics, providing an additional layer of epidemiological resolution beyond conventional genome typing. Integrating prophage profiling into molecular surveillance frameworks could help to identify transmission events, improve infectious source attribution, and enhance infection control strategies.
